KIDNEY STONES

Kidney stones are hard deposits that form within the urinary tract and can vary in size, location, and composition. Some stones may pass on their own, while others may require treatment. Your urologist will consider your symptoms, imaging results, stone size and location, and medical history when determining the appropriate approach.

Evaluation may include a review of your symptoms and medical history, urine and blood testing, and imaging to determine the size and location of the stone. These findings help your provider determine whether observation or treatment may be appropriate.

Treatment varies depending on the individual stone and patient. Options may include observation, medication when appropriate, or procedures designed to break up or remove stone material.

Advanced Technology: CVAC® Aspiration System

The CVAC® Aspiration System is a technology used during certain endoscopic kidney stone procedures. It allows the urologist to navigate within the urinary tract while using irrigation and controlled aspiration to help remove kidney stones, stone fragments, and stone dust.

Your provider will determine whether CVAC® or another treatment approach may be appropriate based on your individual needs.
